About Besan Ladu

Besan ladu is the ladu most Indian kitchens begin with. Gram flour is roasted on a low flame until the raw edge disappears and the kitchen fills with that unmistakable nutty aroma — the point where patience decides everything. Ours is roasted in small batches, because besan browns unevenly the moment you hurry it.

The texture is deliberately grainy rather than dense. Break one open and you will see an open, crumbly centre that melts rather than chews. Each ladu is finished with chopped pistachio on top.

If you grew up with a steel dabba of besan ke laddu on the top shelf, this is the taste you are looking for.

Questions about Besan Ladu

Is this besan laddu made with ghee?

Yes. Our besan ladu is bound with ghee, which is what gives it the grainy, melting texture rather than a dense one.

What is the difference between besan ladu and moong ladu?

Besan ladu is made from roasted gram flour and is richer and nuttier. Moong ladu is made from roasted moong dal, is finer-grained and lighter on the palate.

Does it contain nuts?

Yes, it is finished with pistachio. Please see the allergen information on this page before ordering.
